about me

I have benefitted from counselling through a number of difficult times in my life. Having someone listen and connect with me has helped me to understand myself better, and to process some complex emotions. My experience is that counselling really works.

I trained as a counsellor at Iron Mill College in Exeter and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have another job as a lecturer and researcher in psychology at the University of Plymouth. In that role, as well as learn about how our minds and brains work, I have helped many of my students through stress, anxiety and depression. It has been the most rewarding aspect of my job.

Outside of work, I like to spend time in our lovely town, particularly by the river, and also on the beautiful coast of Devon and on the moors. When not out, I’ll often be playing silly songs on my guitar.
